Peter Youds was born in Cheshire and was educated in that county. His early career involved the law, newspapers and the theatre. He settled into life on the fringes of the entertainment business, where he remains. He is married and lives in Nottinghamshire, England.

He published the first novel in The Ties of Blood series in 2008, subsequently adding ten further titles. In 2019 he embarked on The River Trilogy. The final novel appeared in 2022.

1824: THE FOUR KINGS appeared, appropriately, in 2024 and imagines what might have happened in England if the French had been victorious at Waterloo!

The latest Napoleonic novel, THE COMBINED OPERATION is now available, its sequel to appear in 2026. This is a light-hearted "homage" to some of the great historical novelists.

A new departure for Peter is A GARDEN WALTZ (2025). Set mainly between the Edwardian period and the Second World War, the novel tells the story of a once beautiful estate being coaxed back to life by several generations of women, who see the place as magical.
